Neurocirujano alemán-iraní y científico médico.

Nacido el 19 de junio de 1937 en en Rasht, Irán.

Está casado con Mahschid Samii (desde 1961) y tienen dos hijos.

Sus pasatiempos después de neurocirugía incluye música y el golf.

Se graduó en medicina y biología en la Universidad de Mainz, República Federal de Alemania, en 1963.

Completó su formación en la Clínica de Neurocirugía de la Universidad de Mainz en 1970 con el Profesor Dr. Kurt Schurmann. Durante su período de residencia, su trabajo científico dio lugar a una monografía sobre pneumoencephalotomography, el trabajo experimental sobre el edema cerebral y la investigación experimental en la reconstrucción quirúrgica de las lesiones nerviosas periféricas.

En 1970 fue nombrado Profesor Asociado y Vice Director de la Clínica de Neurocirugía de la Universidad de Mainz.

Estuvo también a cargo de la neurocirugía pediátrica. En 1971 se convirtió en profesor de Neurocirugía y ese mismo año promovió un curso anual para enseñar sus experiencias en microcirugía.

Recibió su título de profesor de neurocirugía en la edad de 33 años.

Como Presidente de la Federación Mundial de Sociedades de Neurocirugía (WFNS) desde 1997 hasta 2001 fue el creador del juego de Instrumentos WFNS de Neurocirugía, un proyecto creado con el objetivo de mejorar el tratamiento de los pacientes en los países más pobres del mundo. Fue el iniciador y fundador de la fundación WFNS en el año 2000, lo que ayuda y apoya a través de un equipo de neurocirugía, así como la formación y educación de sus becas, especialmente para los neurocirujanos de países en desarrollo.

Inició el Foro de Jóvenes de las WFNS neurocirujanos, una plataforma de comunicación y la red dedicada a los neurocirujanos jóvenes de todo el mundo.

En julio de 2000, el International Neuroscience Institute (INI), que fue fundado por el profesor Samii y es apodado el “Cerebro de Hannover” a causa de inusual diseño del edificio, se inauguró en Hannover. Además de sus numerosos doctorados honoris causa, premios, cátedras honoríficas y visitar y fundaciones, la Medalla de Honor de la WFNS se dedica y lleva el nombre del presidente honorario WFNS Madjid Samii.

Majid Samii recibió la distición “Médico Mundial” otorgado por la ciudad del norte de Alemania de Hanover.

El ex canciller alemán Gerhard Schröder alabó a Samii con 70-años de edad, por su contribución a la neurociencia como médico jefe del mundialmente conocido Instituto Internacional de Neurociencias (INI), con sede en Hanover.

Samii ha construido un centro de neurociencia internacional INI en colaboración con la Universidad de Beijing.

En 2007, recibió el premio más alto de China, “Premio a la Amistad”, por el primer ministro de China por su contribución al progreso de la medicina del país.
